Nike all started with Phil Knight, a middle distance runner and accounting student at the University of Oregon, and Bill Bowerman Phil’s coach. Their love to sports is what brought them together, but they also had a love for technology of sports shoes and apparel. In 1962 Knight finished his studies, and went on a trip around the world. While in Japan, Knight started to importing Japanese running shoes to the United States, only investing $500, and in return had 200 pairs of sneakers in the U.S.

Nike Coraline Dunk High

Neil Gaiman’s horror novella, Coraline, will be brought to life in the form of an animated film when it hits theaters on February 6th, 2009. To promote the movie, 1000 pairs of a limited edition Nike Dunk High has been created and can be won from watching the film and through the website. A.P.C. x Nike Sportswear All Court

Nike Sportswear’s All Court has been getting quite a bit of attention after the announcement of a collaboration involving French fashion brand, A.P.C. We get a more detailed look at one of the three styles found in the upcoming release. This model consists of a white canvas upper with a subtle touch of blue on the swoosh and inner lining. Furthermore, branding is kept to a minimum as the only appearance is on the tongue which displays the A.P.C. logo. Expect to see two other color schemes in white/red and white/white later this year. Karmaloop x Reebok Custom Ventilator

Chosen as only one of three select boutiques, Karmaloop has designed their very own Reebok Ventilator through the RBK Custom website. Two Ventilators were designed as apart of the project which have been dubbed the Purple Heart and Blue Blood. Both styles feature a suede upper complimented by a contrasting sole and additional laces. The Purple Heart Ventilator is made up of a grey and purple color scheme while red and light blue can be found on the Blue Blood model. To finish things off, the Karmaloop is embroidered on the heel in their insignia. The Ventilators is limited to 60 pairs each and can now be purchased at Karmaloop.

When they aren’t collaborating with high profile retailers, Saucony is releasing subtle make-ups like the Jazz 3000. The three styles sport a mixture of suede and nylon mesh on the upper, in addition to simple color schemes that includes a model reminiscent to Nike’s Escape Pack. However, the other two are just as easy on the eyes as they keep the number of colors to a minimum. The Jazz 3000 is now available at Hanon and can be purchased for 50% off with their current January promotion.

Vans has kicked off 2009 in a major way and shows no sign of slowing down as they present countless projects involving different names and can now add artist Usugrow to their collection. The Av Sk8-Low, Sk8-Hi Pro and Half Cab Pro are the three styles chosen for the project and are constructed with premium leathers including tumbled full grain and suede. In addition, matching shirt will also be releasing alongside the sneakers when they drop soon. Comments by Usugrow on the collaboration can be read below.

Nike Sportswear Air Max 90

Nike’s 2009 collection of Air Max 90s has been anything but boring and keeps giving us something to talk about with the two new models slated to release in April. The future Sportswear Air Max 90s are made up of a gradient ankle to go along with either a white/blue or grey/neon green colorway, a similar design as seen on a past Air Max 90 previewed in November.
